Sein Lee

South Korean cellist, Sein Lee, began playing the cello at the age of 12. Few years later in 2006, she
was selected as a Kumho Prodigy and gave her debut recital in Kumho Arts Hall. Ms. Lee has been
invited to various music festivals around the world. Notably in 2016, she was invited to Festival Owon and toured all over France with Trio Owon. The other music festivals in which she appeared include Yellowbarn Summer Festival, Four Seasons Winter Workshop and Olympic Music Festival. Sein was also featured at the Seoul Spring Festival where she performed with the internationally renowned violinist Dongsuk Kang. 

Ms. Lee regularly appears with the Asian Philharmonic under Maestro Myun-Whun Chung. She has participated in the Seiji Ozawa Academy several years under Maestro Seiji Ozawa. Sein has performed in masterclasses for distinguished pedagogues such as David Geringas,

Gary Hoffman, Philippe Muller and Steven Doane.

Sein received her B.M. and M.M. from Yonsei University, studying with Sung-won Yang with a full
scholarship where she was two-time winner of the Concerto Competition and performed the Lalo
Cello Concerto and the Brahms Double Concerto with Yonsei Symphony Orchestra. She also
received certificate from Royal Academy of Music in England as a visiting student.

 

Recently, Ms. Lee was invited to 2019 Four Seasons Music Festival Winter Workshop where she had the privilege to perform the Schubert Piano Trio in B-flat major with the distinguished violinist Ida Kavafian. She is currently pursuing a M.M.A. degree at Yale School of Music.
