Kallos Chamber Music Series Celebrates Return to
In-Person Performances in 2021-22 Season
'Back Together!'

In September we will re-launch our live events with a year of programs that will delight, performers who will inspire, and the experience of LIVE music you won't take for granted!

The musical selections of our 2021-22 Season will share hope and comfort after

what has been a difficult 18-months of isolation, loss, pain, and darkness. This season also marks the beginning of Kallos’ new performance residency at the New Haven Lawn Club, which will host the concerts in November, January and March.

If anything good has come from this outbreak, it is our increased appreciation of the beauty, meaning, and healing power of live performance.

We thank you for your friendship, support, and encouragement and

look forward to sharing the music with you in person  throughout this coming season!

2021-22 SEASON HIGHLIGHT

OPENING NIGHT_edited_edited.jpg

WHEN BEAUTY TRIUMPHS
TUE, SEP 14

The musical selections of Kallos’s first program share hope and comfort after what has been a difficult 18-months of isolation, loss, pain, and darkness. Each piece, conceived in a space of immense struggle and hardship, takes us on a revelatory journey through sound, structure, and harmony, conveying the composer’s utmost intimate voyage to joy, beauty, and triumph.

TELL ME A STORY!
WED, NOV 3

Compelling storytelling involves a deep understanding of human emotions, motivations, and psychology. Kallos’s exciting trio of musicians hopes to broaden the horizon of musical storytelling by exploring five distinct narratives: Gershwin’s first trip to France; a mythological and elusive creature living in air’s labyrinth; a ball hosted by a disapproving brother; a soldier with amnesia; and, closing the concert, a tale of a young lad who makes a deal with the devil.

SONGS
WITHOUT
WORDS
WED, MAR 9

In celebrating the 225th anniversary of Franz Schubert, one of the greatest of lieder composers, Kallos presents a program of songs without words. While words efficiently convey message and information, instrumental music breathes in the realm of nonverbal communication. Exploring the nuances of timbres and colours created by our wonderful string quartet, this music speaks to the soul through lyricism, drama, and above all, a reverence for the most natural and beautiful tool of musical expression, the vocality of sound.

PASSIONS AND
PATHOS
TUES, MAY 24

Music has the tremendous capacity to provoke our most intuitive emotions. Kallos’s final programme of the season features four great composers, displaying elements of vulnerability, devotion, wonder, tenderness, and heroism. Similar to life, their music embarks on a pilgrimage through the mountains and valleys of passions and pathos.
